Post Custom Themes On PSP 3000 Running 5.03 MHU

So I read a few posts here on the forum, and a helpful tutorial linked from the main site as well, teaching us how to install custom XMB themes on the PSP3000.

The thing is - a few of the posts, as well as the said tutorial, assume that the themes being converted by CTF Converter are going on a PSP running 5.03 GEN-A.

I, on the contrary have 5.03 MHU (via CFWE 3.60) loaded on my PSP3000. So I was just wondering whether it's possible to use custom themes on a 3000 with 5.03 MHU with CTF Converter? If not, whether there is an alternative or I'm just out of luck on the themes department?

Looking forward to some help...

yes, you can use the cxmb plugin on 5.03 mhu. just use the plugin for 5.00 m33:
CXMB for 5.00 M33 Released, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

just make sure to only use the "lite" version and instructions, and only use .ctf themes for 5.00 m33. if you try to use a theme that writes to the flash, it will brick your psp.

Sorry to come off as completely clueless - but how exactly do I differentiate between themes that write to the flash and those that don't? Do I look out for something specific?

@lightorion - Hi.. so since the time that I asked about this and now - I've gotten custom XMB themes working. To answer your question - wherever it is that you are looking for custom themes, just make sure you download the CTF ones for the 3000... do NOT use a a theme that writes to the flash - it will brick your PSP.

Another thing to note - do not just use the CTF theme you downloaded as it is... you need to convert it using the CTF Converter. Just follow this tutorial -

CXMB for GEN-A 5.03!!!

and when working through the steps involving the CXMB plugin - use the LITE version.

Another thing to note is, as I suggested, do follow the instruction from the link that I posted, but make sure you download the CXMB plugin from the link ultimakillz posted earlier in this thread - CXMB for 5.00 M33 Released, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

As long as you follow the instructions properly and make sure you only use CTF themes which you have converted with the CTF Converter prior to use, you should be up and running with a custom XMB theme in no time.

Hope that helps... gud luck!
