Problems ripping ISOs with Gen-C/D
So I installed Gen-C when it first came out, and I installed the Gen-D today. Ever since installing Gen-C, I haven't been able to rip a working ISO. Persona went through the intro movie before giving me a black screen (which I could hit the "home" button to get out of), and Pangya Fantay Golf boots right to a similar black screen (which home does not get me out of but rather seems to lock the system).
The only plugin I have installed is popsloader, and I have it disabled (not even sure if it's from M33 or from Gen).
What am I doing wrong? I hate playing off UMDs. Help! Thank you in advance.

You have to hit select the ISO Driver to GEN or whatever it is to play ISO and to rip them change the USB Device to UMD. If you VSH does not appear you have to enable it in recovery mode, hold L trigger then you turn the PSP on.

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear on that. I select the UMD in the VSH menu and rip the ISO normally, but I have problems when I try to boot the ISO after I copy it to my memory stick. ISOs that I ripped when I was using M33 work fine. I don't want to switch back to M33 every time I get a new game and want to rip it, though.
There has to be something I'm doing wrong when ripping with Gen. Is it one of the settings in the recovery menu? In the advanced menu it has "Plain modules in UMD/ISO" and "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO". I have both disabled. Do those have any influence on ripping? Like I said, my ISOs that I ripped with M33 in the past all work fine with Gen.

If you wanna just do everything via PSP PSP Filer is pretty good. Other than that Shadowintel has you covered. GEN uses the M33 driver
edit: I've heard other people having problems with Persona too. So it might not be something you're doing wrong.

Thanks, I'll try the filer!
So I have to change the ISO driver to one thing in order to rip properly and then to M33 to play them? I had it set on the M33 driver and it plays M33-ripped ISOs just fine, but ones ripped with GEN don't play correctly. I'm confused.
Edit: No luck getting Filer to work... I tried to follow the directions as best I could. Maybe I'm supposed to use the Kernel 3 version, but it said that one won't rip UMDs, and that's all I want it for.

Hmm sorry to hear that. i havent used PSP Filer so I cant help you with it Ive been using UMDumper. Haven't tried it on my GEN-D install yet. All my games are back at the house. I will try it out later. Check out this thread for a bunch of plugins and tools. Its where I picked up UMDumper. Hope it works better for you.

Well, I tried UMDumper, which worked great, but sadly the ripped iso for Pangya Fantasy Golf still does not function any better than the one I ripped via my PC and USB.
As an experiment, I ripped Half-minute Hero, and it worked fine.
So, there must be something in Pangya and Persona that make them "unrippable". Or, maybe I'm still doing something wrong...
Also, I experimented by downloading a Persona iso (which I hate doing...), and it doesn't work any better than the ISO that I ripped myself. Again, Pangya and Persona both work fine from my UMDs (and I expect the PSN versions would work, too).

Yea like I mentioned before I have heard of several people having problems with ripping Persona, guess you will have to decide on which game you wanna play that day and just keep the UMD in the PSP lol sorry man

Yeah--didn't expect that would be the case with Pangya too, though.
The ISOs are on the net, though, so you'd think someone must be getting them to work...
(If I'd known this in advance, I would have just bought the PSN versions. too late now tho)
Thanks for the help!
