PSP 3001 - Help

Hi

I got my new PSP-3001 today.

OFW - 5.02
Memory card : MagicGate - supported (4Gb Sandisk)

I am not able to find the mobo version. I tried to see the number as described from the sites - but I am not able to see anything - There is no "gap" in which the IC number can be seen to determine if I have a unhackable mobo.

So - What should I be doin?

upgrade to OFW 5.03 and then install CFW 3.60? or something else?

This is the first time I am owning a PSP - so i do not know anything bout it - I have read the tutorials and am just confused as to what shud be done - run ChicHen ? CFW ?

There's no need to check. All PSP300s have the same motherboard (TA-090v2), and they are either partially hackable or not hackable at all, depending on official firmware version it came with.

Since yours came with OFW 5.02, upgrade to OFW 5.03 and then run ChickHEN R2. Then on, install GEN-A or CFWE 3.60.

Read this thoroughly and ask if you still don't understand anything.

AND, please don't brick your PSP while upgrading your OFW (turning the PSP off while upgrading). If you bricked it and sent it to Sony Centre, they might upgrade the OFW beyond 5.03 and then you're stuck.

edit that, they will update to the latest OFW.(over 5.03)

It's best to be very careful as to what you try to run on your PSP. Doing something like trying to load a full CFW (Ones that are still there when you shut down and reboot your PSP) on a 3000 will definitely cause a brick, and the above posts said, have your battery full and do not touch your PSP when you are updating your firmware until it is done. Also, don't go over OFW 5.03, anything beyond that is unhackable.

Wow...

I got the system software to 5.03 MHU

Loading ChickHen R2 was a cake walk too when compared to others saying 40-50 times..

Just followed the "tips" and worked like charm..

When I loaded CFW 3.60 - it gave me a screenshot with

installation : Not detected
Custom Firmware installed : NO

But just went ahead with flash and start and viola.. here I am..

Now that I have done this - will I be able to play all region movies, all games that i can download from net thats meant for PSP ??

I dunno the full potential of wat I have done yet - so exciting pointers will be helpful

u`ll need a patched and decrypted games if you want a newer game..
like FIFA 10,etc,,,

btw 5.03 GEN-B is coming...

And if you go into Settings > Configuration and go to Fake Region, keep pressing X until a region that you need comes up. Say you have a game from Japan with region protection, then you would set this to Japan (I may be wrong, someone please correct me if I am.)

Yes, you can download all that stuff that you own.
Downloading the copyrighted material which you do not own is ILLEGAL.
