Already have PSP 1003 with Cfw 3.40 OE-A

And I would like to upgrade it to the latest firmware. What steps would I need to take to get this done?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Start with this: Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 Released, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

1. Download 5.00 OFW. Extract it and rename it to 500.PBP. Put that in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE.

2. Download the 5.00M33-6 Update. Put that eboot in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE.

3. Go back to the XMB. Go to Game, then memory stick, and run the 5.00M33-6 Updater. Start it and then wait for it to finish. Do NOT stop in the middle of it.

4. When complete, it might restart since you upgraded from a version prior to 5.00. If not then it is OK.

Thx for the help so far mate. I followed the instructions but it keeps telling me i need 3.52 m33-3 or higher. Would I be right to guess I have to install that first?

yea i can help you with that.

actually, keep that 500.PBP, I think a quick use of HCRF will work.

that installs 5.00m33-6. They go in the same folder, but the folder will be called RECOVERY.

That got it sorted . I still don't have full functionality with my PS3 Slim but i'm guessing thats just something i'll have to live with for the time being lol. At least I can d/l and play games off it now even if the remote connect thingy doesn't work.

Either way its a lot better than it was before

Don't say you download games, unless they are back-ups.

As for the Remote Joy, you have to connect it through a USB port to the PS3(not sure about slims).

Usually I rip them off a disk or D/L but actually bought FF7 properly off PSN so gf can play on the PSP.. ofc i only d/l them for backup purposes whilst I play it on the PS3 lol. My whole remote thing just doesn't work, says I need a system update on PSP but now i'm running 5.00 M33 I don't think there is much more I can do lol.

Main reason I wanted to keep custom FW is for my emulators (again for backup) and the odd homebrew app.

Yeah, busy life and all that .

It's not the end of the world about remote access.. at least now I have something do on my lucn break that isn't sleep in my car lol.
