Unhappy D-Pad unresponsive following UMD replacement

Hi there folks

Just finished getting down and dirty with a mates PSP Phat. It had the old familiar problem that the UMD drive had stopped reading after stitting in a drawer for 6 months.

Anyhoo - following re-assembly everything is fine apart from the right button on the D pad which is no longer registering any key presses.

I also think the the buttons in general seem to be sitting a bit lower than they used to and (with the silver screw that secures that botton pad tightened down fully) that the contact pad seems to have bent to a bit of a curve shape.

I've released the screw a few times and wiggled it around but haven't got it to sit any flatter. I've removed the screen twice and reseated the ribbon cable for that contact pad too, but again no joy.

I'm sure I've done something stupid. The buttons where all fine pre-disassembling the sucker. Anyone able to offer any advice?

Thanks

I have never changed anything on my PSP-Phat yet. But is it possible to try the D-PAD without putting the face on? In that case you can try to see if the D-PAD works without the face.

Edit:

Tried to change my face-plate today. But with 0 luck since the hole for the joystick was too smal. Anyways. Did not have any problems with my D-PAD, and I did only remoce the faceplate, and not the whole thing. So I realy dont know what can be your problem. Maybe try to make sure the rubber thingy is in the right place
