Help with a PSP2000.

I don't know the year, I don't have the box, I can't remember what firmware it originally came with, so I thought i'd try hack it anyway, I tried using ChickHEN r2 but with one version the PSP just turned off after a certain amount of time, then nothing was different when I turned it back on, and the other one i tried nothing happened at all when it loaded the image.

running OFW 5.03, white PSP 2000 (UK).

is it hackable do you think, and if so, how and what with?

well, you should be able to load chickHEN as long as you have ofw 5.03 installed, which you do. its supposed to freeze and then reboot. thats how it works.

just double check that the h.bin file is in the root of your mem stick and that the gifs and tiff are in a folder (called chickHEN or SLIM or something) inside the PHOTO folder.

it will take multiple tries to get it working. dont give up!

once you get chickHEN loaded, you can download a program called pspident which will reveal the motherboard you have installed, and only then will you know if your psp is hackable or not.

try all the different versions of chickHEN available. i tried the original about 10 times and it never worked, then the revised version and it didn't work. finally the 2nd revision worked for me... finally. lol

if you want to try different version of chickhen to make it load easier (not that its a guarentee) then go on ultimakillz website, hes got all 3 listed at the bottom below the funny starwars pix.

make sure you replace ALL the files, h.bin and all the files in the folder.

Hey, nice job Ultima! Btw, at some point, you might want to add a download link for Popsloader v1.1, for CFWE users. It's not exactly firmware, but it kind of fits into the "essential" category 'cause it's not included in the CFWE like it is with CFW.

it freezes and turns off, but doesnt turn back on.

if the screen just freezes and turns off, chickhen is still not installed
For minimum trials, try putting the PSP to default settings and try ChickHenMod(don't know if ChickHenMod works)

Tried chickhen, chickhen r2, chickhen mod, all multiple times with just the psp freezing then turning off and not restarting, its on default settings with usb auto start and cache turned off, cant think of anything else to do

theres the mod2 check ultimakillz website. it should take about 10 trys on each version b4 switching... anyways, if you read the readme attached to mod2 there are actually instruction on how to make it work beta - one way for 1000 another for 2000/3000
