PSP 2003- Upgrading the CFW - PSP Slim Hacks

Hey guys

Sorry for the noobish question but I was wondering if it's kosher to upgrade a psp 2003 running 4.01 m33-2 to the latest CFW available, the 5.50 GENB (i think). I tried installing CFW once before and got it bricked & had to get someone to fix it for me, since then its been running 4.01 m33-2 and i haven't dared messing with it since...until now. If it is possible please can someone point me in the right direction on how to do so

Updating to 5.00M33-6 when you are on a version prior to 5.00M33-6 Code: 1015

Start with this: Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-6 Released, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

1. Download 5.00 OFW. Extract it and rename it to 500.PBP. Put that in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE.

2. Download the 5.00M33-6 Update. Put that eboot in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE.

3. Go back to the XMB. Go to Game, then memory stick, and run the 5.00M33-6 Updater. Start it and then wait for it to finish. Do NOT stop in the middle of it.

4. When complete, it might restart since you upgraded from a version prior to 5.00. If not then it is OK.
