Newbie Questions

I'm a newbie to the world of PSP hacking, and have some questions (as the title states).

I'm on a PSP 3000 running 5.03MHU (most of the time), and I'm wondering if there is some way of booting my PSP into the CFW instead of loading ChickHEN + CFWE each time my PSP freezes. If not, is there a more fool-proof way of getting into ChickHEN? The image I'm using fails about 80% of the time.

When I use the tutorial here to turn PSX ISO's into PBP's, is there anything else I need to install?
