ChickHen TRICK for the slim, DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW!

Well.. since a lot of people
wanted to know about it i would like to help BUT DO NOT FLAME ME IF IT DOESNT WORK..

Well im gonna tell you, there are 2 different tutorials in this guide, tutorial 1 is a short guide and works for me, tutorial 2 however i never tested but seems like to work by people.

Tutorial 1 (The short guide), the guide i wrote by myself.

First, just get a official chickhen r2: that includes the chickhen a to d, and with the slim.

Then add chickhen photos and get in total 13 photos that includes the original 4 photos + the slim, so in your memory stick there will be in total like 13 photos and a slim.

Next step is some timing, go to photos memory stick, and select chickhen map, now comes the timing!, DO NOT SCROLL DOWN after you klicked chickhen and its highlighting CHICKHEN A, wait till options shows up (triangle) and scroll then immidiately down to slim, and thats all. After that you could use cfe and gen-b etc

Tutorial 2 is the guide that Gusha posted here, credits dont go to me.
ChickHEN and CFWE3.60 for 3000 series PSP’s and TA088v3+ Mobo’s

OFW - RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

*Ensure that your PSP is running 5.03OFW - Settings>System Settings>Sytem Information>System Software – (should be) 5.03 – If so move to ChickHEN

IF NOT

*Your battery should be at least 75% charged (I plug in the AC charger too)
*Extract the “PSP_Firmware_503.RAR” on your PC and contained should be a file named "Eboot.pbp".
*Format your MS via your PSP Settings>System Settings> Format Memory Stick.
*Connect the USB to the PSP and then Create a New Folder named UPDATE in the GAME folder in the PSP folder on the root of the MS - it should look like this MS0:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE
*Place the Eboot.pbp in the UPDATE folder
*Close the USB Connection
*Run the update using your PSP and after it’s completed it will reboot
*That should upgrade your PSP to Official Firmware 5.03

ChickHEN - RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

*Reset the PSP to factory defaults
*Turn off UMD AutoStart and Cache (Where applicable)
*Set Themes/Background etc to ORIGINAL
*Set UMD charge and AUTO CONNECT to OFF (Varies from Phats to Brites)
*Some say that on the PHATS the screen brightness should be on the lowest setting
*Some also say set the Language to ENGLISH and the Character Set to US(437)

*Backup your MS – Specifically Game Saves
*Format MS (many claim that the smaller (512m / 1g / 2g) original cards work best)
*Rename the MPROOT folder to ‘MSROOT’
*Extract “ChickHENR2.RAR” Open the Slim/Phat (depending on your model) folder and copy the ChickHEN folder contained to the MS0:\PSP\PHOTO folder
*Place a copy of the “h.bin” file extracted earlier on the ROOT of the MS as well as in the MSROOT folder (changed earlier)
*ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO OTHET PICS OR PHOTOS ON THE MS
*IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS (Doesn’t work after the 10th try etc)
*Some say copy 3 more versions of the pictures of the Eggs into the ChickHEN folder and rename e/f and g
*Some say scroll down to the last image while they load but don’t click X on it (never works for me on either the 2k or 3k)

NOW

*Fully switch off the PSP (not sleep – hold up the power button for +-7 sec)
*Restart and immediately scroll to PHOTO in the XMB and select MS\ChickHEN – When the thumbnail loads – press X – Nothing else!
*Funky ‘Green’ screen ensues and Auto-Restart
IF
*The screen freezes and it Auto-Shuts down but not Restart – Unsuccessful so return to step “Scroll to PHOTO\MS\ChickHEN – etc”
*To check the ChickHEN’s establishment on the PSP look in Settings>System Settings>Sytem Information>System Software – (should be) 5.03 ChickHenR2
and if so move ahead to CFWE 3.60 or GEN-B

IF NOT

*Fully switch off the PSP (not sleep – hold up the power button for +-7 sec)
*Restart and immediately scroll to PHOTO in the XMB and select MS\ChickHEN – When the thumbnail loads – press X – Nothing else!
*Funky ‘Green’ screen ensues and Auto-Restart

IF NOT

*Go back to the start of the ChickHEN section of this tutorial and start


CFWE 3.60 – Downloaded with the ChickHEN file

*Extract The CFWEnabler360.zip
*Open the PSP Folder you extracted in it will be a GAME Folder which you will copy including its contents to the MS (When prompted to replace files, choose YES (Assuming you formatted your memory stick)) so that it looks like this - MS0:\PSP\GAME
*Close the USB Connection and run the CFWEnabler 3.60 via your PSP (It is under Games\MS\CFWEnabler3.60 on the XMB)
*A screen with System Information on it in Red and Black should show – Scroll down to and press X on “Flash and Start”
*Exit and Enjoy your newly (partially) hacked PSP enabling Homebrew play as well as ISO/CSO backup gameplay (Place ISO/CSO’s in ms0:\PSP\GAME folder)!


GEN-B - Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B for HEN Released | Download CFW 5.50 GEN-B, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

*Extract the cfw5.03gen-bfor3000.zip
*Place the 5.03GEN-B folder in the game folder on the MS (ms0:\PSP\GAME\5.03GEN-B)
*ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO VERSIONS OF CFW ON THE PSP (CFWE OR GEN) If there are use CFWE3.30 (RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting) to Uninstall all CFW
*Reboot PSP
*Install ChickHEN R2
*Run the 5.03GEN-B Installer from GAME on the XMB
*Click X to Flash GEN-B
*Click X to restart into 5.03 GEN-B environment


CHANGING FROM MHU/CFWEx.x to GEN-B or VISA VERSA

*Download CFWE 3.30 (Version doesn’t really matter as long as it is a different version to any possible CFWE that may be installed) - RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
*Unzip and Place in the ms0:\PSP\GAME folder
*Run CFWE3.30 from the MS in GAME on the XMB
*Use 'Uninstall' option (Bottom right of main screen) to Uninstall All CFW
*Exit CFWE3.30 (Not not flash and start)
*Reboot (Will most likely do this automatically)
*Install ChickHen

GEN-B
*Download 5.03GEN-B - Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B for HEN Released | Download CFW 5.50 GEN-B, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks
*Unzip and Place in the ms0:\PSP\GAME folder
*Run 5.03GEN-B from the MS in GAME on the XMB
*Click X to Flash

WOW! Thanks Bjorno! Ive never seen any of that information before and will immediately try your new TRICK so that my HEN installation becomes completely problem free... I have always wanted to ask about how to make it work easier but was always to ChickHEN to do so! thanks again for the info and the especially helpful link to the OFFICIAL ChickHEN R2 download, it made it SO much easier!

Just one thing... after adding the photo's to the folder until I have LIKE 13 and a slim, is having 12 LIKE having 13 or would I LIKE have to have 14 to LIKE have 13??? Sorry for the noobish question but I dont want a brick or anything!

Anyway.. you need to have IN TOTAL 14 things in your chick hen maps that INCLUDES the SLIM, so 13 chickhen photos+ 1slim= 14 in total.

Well adding one "egg" photo or two will still work, I've done this a long time ago, I even editted using PS CS the TIFF image engraved my name in there save it as the same file type and the chickHEN still works.

Perhaps I'm no reading hard enough, but I didn't see anything about holding the 'R' trigger.

On my Memory Stick that I'm using currently, a 4GB, I used to never be able to get ChickHEN to run. I always had to use my other one, a 2GB (that my grandma's dog ate ==;) to load up the CFWe. But, it seems when I hold the 'R' trigger while booting up and continue to hold it while I do the ChickHEN method, I have a high success rate.

I also copied some eggs, but that had no bearing on my success rate prior to the 'R' trigger method.

If you need a step method, basically.

*Hold R Button
*Boot up PSP, keep holding R Button
*Use the method to load ChickHEN WHILE STILL HOLDING THE R BUTTON
*Success or Fail

1st off... I was being sarcastic - there are many ChickHEN threads and Tuts! Second, by just lazily copying my work into your "tutorial" you have deleted all the links so why dont you just ask a MOD to delete this pretty pointless thread.
