The process is pretty simple and straight forward, but for those having trouble, here's what to do...
Is your game
compatible?
What you need.
- Yoshihiro’s Game Decrypter, installed onto your GAME folder
- UMDGen 4
Both available
here.
and of course, your UMD backup.
Once you have all that ready, we can begin.
Step 1
Open up UMDGen. Click on open and find your ISO image. I recommend making another backup of the image before you edit.
Step 2
Go to File>File List>Export..
Save it as
filelist.txt, in somewhere like your desktop.
Step 3
Under the Explorer view, you should see the folder structure of the image. Head into the
PSP_GAME directory and then the
SYSDIR directory by using the folder tree on the left or by double clicking in the main view.
Step 4
(Now is a good time to connect your PSP/MemStick - so go ahead and do that). You'll see a folder and a couple .BIN files. The one you need is
EBOOT.BIN, so select it. . Right click and choose "Extract Selected..."
Save it to the root of your Memory Stick, by root I mean the very top of the stick - the same place you see the ISO, PSP, SEPLUGINS directories - but not in them.
Step 5
On your PSP, run the Decrypter from the Game menu.
It will ask you to press X or O. Press O if you're on 5.03 MHU or 5.00 M33-6. If you're on 5.50 GEN, press either.
The PSP will return to the XMB after it has finished it's business.
Step 6
Connect up your PSP to the computer again.
You should see a new folder called
DECRYPTOR in the root of the MemStick. Inside you'll find the decrypted
EBOOT.BIN. Move it to your desktop.
Step 7
Back in UMDGen.
Remember where you found the original
EBOOT.BIN? If you're not there already - go there!
Right click the blank space and choose "Add>Existing File(s)..."
Locate the decrypted
EBOOT.BIN which is hopefully on your desktop. Add the file.
It will ask if you want to replace the file, do it.
Step 8
Go to File>File List>Import... and find filelist.txt.
It will ask if you want to force file positions, choose yes.
Step 9
You are now ready to save the image. So choose save and save in the format you wish.
Before you try this on other games, delete the DECRYPTOR folder that was created and the EBOOT.BIN you extracted earlier on the memory stick.

Using Yoshihiro's Game Decrypter V4 (w/screens)
Credits to Rith, for such an amazingly easy to follow guide.
-Remember the "Export text file" step? Well .. I personally recommend you'd save the .txt file with the exact same name of your ISO (before the EBOOT extraction obviously).
-Now then, after you've replaced the EBOOT, and before you save the new .ISO file, IMPORT back the .txt file you've saved, and accept the overwriting.
-Proceed to save the new .ISO file.
-You will notice that the file size is different as when you didn't import back the .txt file, this means you really didn't go through the LBA protection at all. Basically, If you edit the ISO, in any way possible, it simply won't start or freeze at the black screen of death.
So yeah, you'll just have to make sure that your game does or doesn't need to by-pass the LBA protection (this information is practically listed in the compatibility thread, by the way ---> Game Decrypter Compatability List).
So well, I hope you guys have luck with the decrypting/patching, I'm using 5.03MHU and having no problems so far (at least with the compatible games for my CFW, such as Persona).
PS: If this turns out to be helpful I'll upload images for sure lol
