It is correctly flashed into the psp 3k ( if that is your concern ).. you need to flash your psp only once though.. the next time you do it, you just reboot into CFW since the flashing was already done. Doesn't brick your psp..

Why am I such a scaredy cat? Or maybe I'm being really cautious but to clear that up even more (sorry), the CFW gets flashed onto your PSP however it doesn't get flashed in a way that causes a brick (outside of yanking the battery out during it being flashed )?
P.S, this site is awesome and the community is fantastic.

As far as I can tell Gen-A doesn't actually get "flashed" to the PSP. Gen-A goes away after you shut down the PSP or drain your battery.
I was confused my self when I was about to put the CFW on the PSP-3000. But after doing so I found out that it is just like chickHen where if you completely shut down your PSP or drain the battery completely (not just low battery where it goes into sleep but all the way dead) the next time you start up your PSP it is back to the OFW and not the CFW.
You can get the CFW back on again if you go the the steps again.
What I am doing is carrying around a small Memory Stick pro duo with the stuff that I need to get the CFW on the PSP just in case I accidentally turn it off.
From what I hear is if you do not want to brick your PSP just don't change your theme or anything else that will touch the firmware. I think if you stick to playing games PSP or PSX you will have no issues.
