Default I hope it works for you

I just bought a Red God of War PSP with a 8gig Memory Stick, Pandora battery and magic memory stick, a case with a built-in screen protecter, and the UMD Superbad. Cost me around $140

ROFL! I think you should frame that chart as a symbol of your achievement.

Well, you'll be happy to know that your advanced calculations were indeed correct. (were there ever any doubts?) I just finished hacking it. It took me over an hour to get chickHEN to load. (grrr...3 diff versions and none of them would load) Finally it loaded and I ran PSPident. Turns out it's the earliest mobo for the 2000...a TA-085. It must have come with ofw 3.60 like the one you almost bought.

The back is a tiny bit scuffed, but the entire front and the screen is in MINT condition. So it should sell nicely. I'm tempted to list it on ebay right now, but I think I'm better off waiting until the holiday shopping season.

LOL, funny part is, I'm even more tempted to KEEP it. These things are so hard to come by, that every time I get my hands on one, I have a hard time parting with it!

well, im glad that everything worked out. if i bought the one i was looking at then i probably would have kept it and sold the one i have now. i would really like to have one to make pandoras whenever i needed them. so instead of buying the psp for $80, i bought a pandora from dealextreme for $6 and change, which turned out to be free because i had $10 on my paypal account that i had forgot about. w00t!

this brings up a good question that i have been pondering for a while. what is a good price for a hacked psp? how much should we charge for our services?

Hmm...I never even thought about that. I have 2000's with 3 different mobos. It didn't even occur to me to check to see which one of them can create pandoras. I guess because we can get them so cheap on DX.

Nice. Hey thanks for reminding me. I have about $6 credit on DX that I forgot all about.

I've been wondering the same thing. The cheapest I've seen them for on ebay (in good condition) is $145, that's all by itself, without the box or any extras. The most I've seen them for was $180, but those were listed with games and accessories. But my feeling is, the value will go up once it's no longer possible to find 5.03 and under in stores. But even that depends on whether the exploit for 5.5x is released.

The other thing I wonder is how I should list them...whether I should put the word "modded" or "CFW" in the title or not (the word "hacked" might be a little too risky). I noticed one seller was listing them without mentioning anything about the firmware, but he showed closeup photos of the system info screen showing CFW M33-6.

the only mobos that create pandora are ta-085v1 and less. so basically all phats and the first slims. according to the guide, any psp with ofw 3.60 (which is what the silver psp i was looking at had installed) has the ta-085v1. that means the one you bought probably has it too.

you might think about keeping it. it would be nice to be able to make pandoras and not have to wait a week to get one from dealextreme. just a thought.

as far as the price goes, i have seen them on craigslist for $300 plus some accessories. if it was me, i probably would charge them between $150-$200 with or without accessories (depending on what they want).

here lately i have been approached by people (not friends or anything) who want me to hack their psp. what is the charge for services?

I thought so at first. My TA-085 is the earliest one, the one before v1/v2. But now that I think of it, I think I remember that one couldn't make a pandora. Kefler's guide used to have a really great chart that showed several columns, including mobo#, hackable/not-hackable, and whether or not it could create a pandora. But the formatting of the post got messed up when we switched to the new forum (it was a table instead of an image) and disappeared completely from the post.

Wow, that's great! Maybe I'll use craigslist instead. Another plus is, no ebay & paypal fees that way.

I saw a listing on craigslist while I was browsing for the psp. They advertised a "mod while you wait" service for $25. But I think that's way too cheap for a 2000. I think 3000's should be $25 and 2000's should be closer to $40 or $50.

K, now I'm confused. My mobo didn't have a version number after it. I thought I recalled there being three different TA-085 boards (085 with no vers#, 085v1 & 085v2). I know previous versions of PSPident couldn't differentiate between v1/v2 of that board, so it would display them just as I just did. But the most recent one can tell the difference. It displayed my Daxter board as TA-085v2. So now I don't know if a TA-085 is just the v1 unmarked, or if it's a different version altogether.

i had a similar problem with my slim. when i ran pspident, it returned that i had the ta-088v1/v2. the article on the main site says it cant differentiate between the ta-088 mobos, not the ta-085s.

after that, i tried running psptweaker v2.0. it will also return hardware info. so i ran it and it returned that i have the ta-088v1.

you might want to try it again with psptweaker. you can get it here:
PSPTweaker v2.0 – Homebrew Tool, PSP Hacks - PSP Slim Hacks

it makes sense to me that the unmarked ta-085 and ta-085v1 are the same. i dont think they would make another version and call it version 1. but thats just a thought.

Thanks! I will definitely try that. It'll come in handy for future PSP's as well.

EDIT: heheh...now you have an even 50.
