yes, you can only use chickHEN and cfwenabler 3.60 on your psp. if you try to install a full cfw like 5.00 m33-6 or 5.50 gen-b, then it will brick, and void your warranty.
here is a guide for backing up umds:
The Complete Noob Guide [+how to back up UMD's!]
~edit~
this program will dump umds as well:

only chickhen and CFWe work on your psp, also as a replacment to the CFWe theres "5.03GEN-a for HEN" but i wouldnt bother you have the best installed. as for ripping your umds...
you can either select the vsh menu by pressing select and changing the USB mode to UMD then copying the .iso file off the umd (might take awhile) OR you can get a umd dumper program, lots of homebrew programs do it and it dumps it to you memory stick.
once you have an iso you can convert it to a compressed iso (.cso) to save space using UMDGEN 4.0... look in the tutorials, theres a place for this...
EDIt: damn it u beat me too it...

homebrew is a term that means it was created by developers that arent associated with sony (or have any other official associations usually).
cfwenabler 3.60 is the best. just stick with that.
