Upgrading to CFW 5.50 gen-b problems

Alright, well I was running 5.00 M33-6 earlier, and I decided to upgrade to 5.50 gen B, So i followed instruction, installed official firmware 5.03, and I installed ChickHen R2 afterwards, I don't know if I installed ChickHEN right, but now when i try to run the update for 5.50 genB, it says the file data is corrupted, and on top of that, I can't run any of my games now, oh and i just tried gen-A too, also didnt work

If I'm doing this wrong, please tell me, I placed the SLIM .tiff image in my picture section (because my PSP folder did not contain a PHOTO folder)and i placed H.bin in the root folder of the PSP, but it did not work? Was there supposed to be something that happens afterwards? and I figured I did something wrong, so i deleted the .tiff image and went into root folder->PSP folder and then created a PHOTO Folder and placed the .tiff image in there, but still same results, I can't even run PSPident. now im stuck with official firmware 5.03 and can't do anything about it, is there something that I missed?

ok. make sure that you downloaded chickHEn r2. you can download it again here:

after you unpack it, it will have two folders inside: phat and slim. open the slim folder and there will be a folder called chickHEN inside. that is the folder that you copy to your ms0:\PSP\PHOTO folder.

after that, you need to cop the h.bin file into the root of your mem stick. the root is the directory where the PSP folder is.

after that, you should "restore default settings" under "system settings". after that is done, go back to "system settings" and turn off "umd auto-start" and "umd cache".

after that, go to PHOTOS on the xmb and click on the chickHEN folder and watch the gifs load. if the screen flashes green then it worked. if it doesnt then it will freeze and restart. go back to PHOTOS and repeat the process again.

after that, you need to install 5.00 m33-6 again with hellcats recovery flasher. once you have that installed, you can install 5.50 gen-a straight from 5.00 m33-6, and then update to 5.00 gen-b and 5.50 gen-b2.

Alright, i followed your instructions again, i got to the point where i load up the GIF's, but it didnt flash green, it froze and turned off, i repeated it over and over again, but still same results
btw im running PSP-2001 with mobo TA-085v2

Just keep trying. You could go to my site and download the chickhen mos2 and try it. If not just keep trying.

dont forget to move the h.bin and chickHEN folder from your previous attempt before trying mod2. you may also want to try formatting your mem stick.

err. alright well ChickHEN Mod2 worked, i can now do whatever, BUT
ive run into yet another problem...I cant use hellcat's recovery flasher, gives me error messages when i try to format the flash or whatever
says flash 2 and 3 arent assigned and blah blah

wait a minute, did you run PSPIdent first?!

ALSO: DO NOT DO THIS ON A TA-088v3 OR PSP 3000!

You need the OFW renamed to 500.PBP in the same folder or root. Flash2/3 not assigned, thats ok..

He said he was running 5.00 m33-6 earlier. Maybe he needs to flash ofw 5.00 and then repeat the whole process.

and what do you mean rename 500 PBP?
rename what and where?

edit: it tells me "ERROR OPENING ./371.PBP!
