Default Final Fantasy PSX Just Won't Load

Hey guys, (almost) every time I try a copy of FFVII I just can't get it to load past the sony screen on my psp. I first tried ripping the isos from my original discs and then put them through popsloader and set the eboots on my flash card, but those didn't load, they just black screened or got the "game could not be started" error. Then I tried a few different eboots from torrents, one of which finally did load, but crashes at a specific point in the game on the second disc, so I have to try something else.

I'm running the CFW GEN-2B on a US PSP-2001 and have found that the only pops that loaded any of the discs was version 3.51, if that is at all relevant.

So, I know this is a common problem but I just haven't come across any answers that work for me. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them. Thanks!
